AN 18-YEAR-OLD girl from Zaka who had travelled to Chiredzi for a weekend outing with her boyfriend hanged herself after her lover refused to give her bus fare to travel back to school the next Monday morning.
Kudzai Mujeki, from Dzoro village under Chief Bota, who is a Form Three pupil at Matara High School in Zaka, hanged herself at a house belonging to her lover’s friend in Tshovani Township in Chiredzi.
Masvingo provincial acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, confirmed the incident and said investigations are still underway.
Upon arrival, Makotore, who is married, took his girlfriend to his friend’s house at Number 768A Lumumba Street in Tshovani Township.
Patrick Maputsa, who often provided the love nest for the two lovebirds, immediately left the house to give the two some privacy.
Makotore and Mujeki then engaged in s*xual romps throughout the night.
Makotore promised to send Mujeki some money via mobile money transfer provider, Ecocash, so that she could travel back to school that morning but that did not happen.
Ass Insp Dhewa warned people not to take their lives but try and find amicable solutions to their problems or seek counselling from experts.
