Controversial lyricist Jacob Moyana charmed sungura ace Alick Macheso over the weekend when they shared the stage at Ice & Fire Pamuzinda.
Early this year Macheso threw a salvo at Moyana accusing him of corrupting the youngsters with his “dirty songs”. Moyana fired back saying there was nothing amiss with his lyrics and called Macheso’s song “Cynthia” dirty. But later Moyana admitted to The Herald Entertainment that he deliberately sets out to pen songs that are open to naughty interpretation.
Moyana joined Macheso on stage on the song “Teererai” and played the rhythm guitar much to the delight of the fans.
Macheso showered praises on the “Munotidako” hitmaker before chanting some of his popular songs in correct Shona dialect.
“He sings munotida ikoko, pawedzerei takatarisa and tichauya kuzonamata ikoko,” said Macheso.
The musician asked his fans whether he should take Moyana into his group and they endorsed him.
“What should we do with him? Should we take him?” he asked.
Throughout the song Macheso admired the musician as he continuously called for an encore to some of the musician’s antics.
Macheso finished his act with songs from his old albums.
The musician sampled some songs from the coming album with “Ane Bhora” being the most popular with the crowd.
Other artists who performed at the event were Beverly Sibanda and Guspy Warrior.
The two artists gave well polished acts leaving the crowd in a jovial mood.Show promoter Josh Hozheri thanked fans for braving the chilly weather to come and enjoy the show.
“It is cold as you can see but people have decided to come and enjoy the show with us,” he said.
He applauded Macheso and Moyana for showing unity after the friction that happened between the two artists early this year.
“It is encouraging in the music industry if artists unite like this because as promoters we must work to shun the so called beef among artists,” he said.
