A 46-YEAR-OLD school headmaster from Gweru committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a moving bus while running away from his wife, following a misunderstanding over his transfer to a new school in Lower Gweru.
The man, Jabulani Hove of 4850 Mkoba Village 9 high density suburb, who was a headmaster at a local school, allegedly committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a moving bus owned by Sino Cement Company, which was being driven by Mr Movern Kadzombe, while his wife was giving chase following an altercation.

Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident which occurred two weeks ago at around 6am at Mkoba Village 12 turn-off along Hamutyinei road in Gweru.

“I can confirm that we are investigating a case in which a 46-year-old man from Mkoba was knocked down by a bus owned by Sino Cement Company on 12 August this year at around 6 am.

“Circumstances are that Hove was hit by a bus at Mkoba Village 12 turn-off along Hamutyinei road. He sustained a fractured skull and a broken leg as a result of the accident and he died on the spot,” he said.

However, sources close to the family alleged that Hove and his wife had an altercation in the morning after the man allegedly refused to go to Lower Gweru where he was supposed to assume duty as the new headmaster at a school there.

“Hove was recently transferred to Lower Gweru where he was supposed to assume duty as a headmaster at a local school. He, however, refused after he heard that the previous two headmasters at the school had died under unclear circumstances,” said the source.

It is alleged that Hove and his wife had a misunderstanding over the matter resulting in the now deceased leaving the house before running towards the main road.

She chased after him and the two had a little scuffle while she was trying to stop him.
Hove allegedly threw himself in front of a moving bus. He had earlier attempted to throw himself in front of a moving car which avoided him before the bus, which was behind the vehicle, knocked him down.

“She tried to chase after him but failed to catch up. Hove was then knocked down by a bus and he died instantly,” said the source.

Hove, the source added, had suicidal tendencies and his wife suspected that he wanted to commit suicide resulting in her chasing after him.
